The Aspiring to Deputy/Headship Programme offers support to practising Catholic leaders applying for a senior leadership role in a Catholic school within one of the five North West Catholic Dioceses: Archdiocese of Liverpool, Lancaster, Salford, Shrewsbury, and Wrexham.
The programme is led by experienced Catholic leaders who are involved in recruiting and retaining Catholic leaders. They offer the most up-to-date advice and guidance on the application process and what to expect at interview.
A 60-minute virtual session takes you through the Catholic Education Service application form, giving advice on how to avoid some of the common errors teachers make when applying for senior leadership posts. Each section of the form is addressed with particular attention given to the personal statement required. This session is led by Damian Cunningham, Director of Education for Shrewsbury Diocese and is open to anyone who is interested.
Delegates are then invited to a full day of face-to-face training. The location is usually at St Margaret Clitherowe Centre, Liverpool.
This day is recommended for those teachers who are likely to be applying for a senior leadership post this academic year.
The programme includes the following but is always prepared for the needs of the delegates attending, so it may include other activities.
If Not You, Who?
Prayer & Liturgy
What To Expect at Interview
Introduction to the types of tasks that might be part of the recruitment process
Evidencing Your Experience
Liturgical Prayer Activity
During the afternoon you will be offered a 20-minute mock interview which will include feedback. This is in discussion with the delegate to ensure that the time is used to meet their individual needs.
Delegates can choose to submit an application form, but this is not a requirement.
Following the face-to-face day, the NWCDTP team offer ongoing support to:
